this always really, really pissed me off when i was a jw.. they actually had the audacity to claim that the god who created the universe was somehow involved in the increase of 'kingdom interests' - property in flourishing lands.. now, as i see it, the world has really suffered since the wts started out in it's seedy americanisation of what religion should be:.
wwiwwiithe untold suffering of the holocausteuropean civil warsthe list goes on.............yet, i was told that jehovah god was furthering & advancing the watchtower bible & tract societys 'talents.'.
this generally involved the building/expansion of wts property.. so, let me get this straight; god was getting all excited about his people expanding the property/printing presses of a corporate organisation, while turning a blind eye to the holocaust, paedophilia, warfare, tsunamis/earthquakes.. not the god i would want to worship personally.. yet it shows just how much the jw's have their heads firmly implanted right up their own arses.. do me a favour.. if god exsisted or was interested in humanity, there are bigger matters for him to deal with than the expansion of the wts.. .

which is what a dub said to me today.
i would like to come back to him with evidence that they are not.
does anyone have any helpful links they could post to refute this?.
After 9/11, I can't possibly forget the near-glee at the local Saturday door-knocking meeting where one after another would comment, "NOW people will have questions...and they'll turn to US!" Gag.
comments you will not hear at the 03-13-11 wt study (january 15, 2011, pages 13-17)(marriage).
respect marriage as.
21 marriage, of course, is not the only gift.
If marriage was the most important priority, why do we never read examples of the PO who left his station to help his frazzled wife get their five kids dressed and ready for the meetings and door-knocking? Or the man who quit a stint of Extended Door-Knocking to get the family off government subsidies and into self-sufficiency........?
Of course we KNOW why. But I'm just sayin'.
its a generalization from my perspective maybe because i've left ?
oh should i define the words time period like the fds.
lets see i hope its not like generation ?
In 2008, Watchtower flipped their latest doctrine on "generation" in the Bible to mean "anointed generation" instead of "wicked generation." That's 180 degrees in change.
And you'd kinda think one of the tens--if not hundreds--of thousands of assumed J-Dubs already in heaven ruling away woulda been waving his or her arms, harp and halo at the GB yelling "Nooooooooooooo stoopid that's US! Not the wicked people! US!!" for at least a couple years or a DECADE or so before starting to whiff bound volumes straight from the heavens in dismay.
Right? Right?
Of course, that would also require everything they've been teaching to be TRUE and that they're actually spirit-bound and directly led by the head of the congregation, Jesus Christ and.....oh, wait. Never mind. Now it all makes sense. Nothing to see here!

i don't know if people have already discussed this on here yet or not, but this video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kzvkdul-_8&nr=1.
shows what will happen to those who do not follow the rules and regs that the watchtower bible and real estate corp have pulled out of their arses...er...figured out through careful bible examination and scriptual insight.
I was trying to explain to my (Catholic-raised) Missus that what made the first video so freakin' funny was how DEAD-ON it was....
i am new to this but, for years, i was already out.
don't know where to start.
as i have read the many posting, i'm not alone in my feelings.
Appearances, appearances. How I can relate.
I was in one of those families where all the kids pioneered and almost everyone but me went to Bethel--except for the one that got invited to Gilead. It made me nauseous to hear my father introduce himself to people at any new KH. They'd know about our 'status' before they knew our names. We weren't people to him--only products.
Everybody 'knew' me at the Hall but they didn't KNOW me. As in, how I felt. Or how poorly my relationship with my (all thanks to Real God?) current EX-wife was doing. Here's this room full of 'brothers' and 'sisters' in a 'family' but not one person I could speak to honestly. If they asked me how I was doing, could I really tell them that my violent, tax-cheating, check-bouncing 'soulmate' was driving me up a wall and making me miserable? Nope. Not at all.
I'm supposed to miss that. At least they think so, right? But it still took me a year-plus after leaving to really, truly figure that out.
Welcome to the beginning of your journey....

if you are an elder or an ex-elder please add a comment.
i hope that the governing body will see this.
it is too bad it has to be on an anonymous forum.
As an 'aren't you an elder yet?' ministerial servant, I'd always find something to screw up a few weeks before the CO visit so the local Body of Elders wouldn't consider me for their 'club.' The very thought of judging the flock was far beyond what I could stomach.
I'd add a few more points, but anyone seriously considering this faith to be 'The Truth' in absolute terms has more than enough to chew on. If not choke on.

has anyone had a jw rant to them around christmas time about how "horrible" it is to be a "worldly" person at that time of year?.
certian jws love to use the infamous black friday shopping riots that tend to occur as examples to back up this argument.
now, while those incidents are indeed disgraceful, they are hardly isolated to the "world".. among my "priveliges" was to be an attendant at a few district conventions.
I think a re-purposed rendering of Numbers 11:32-33 is highly applicable here. I mean, the GB creatively 'applies principles' all the time right?
32 All that morning the (assembly-crazed J-Dubs) went out and gathered (seats). No one (slapped surprisingly unplaced magazines on) less than ten (seats). Then they spread (more) all around the camp. 33 But while the (seats) were still (beneath their new Songbooks) and before they could be (sat in), the anger of the LORD burned against the people, and he struck them with a.....
Gee I dunno. Yet another pointless symposium?

And all of that for the grand privilege of wrinkling your nice clothes in hard plastic seats for hours at a time, struggling to stay awake, scribbling down scripture references as if they were manna from heaven and--oh yes--applauding on cue. Really? Really really?
It's like living an Aesop's fable entitled The Emperor's New Public Talk...
